The largest construction project in Ashtabula Regional Medical Center’s 118-year history, the new 4-story patient care tower houses 55 private patient rooms, a new 10-room Intensive Care Unit, 24 Emergency Department rooms, 5 operating rooms, and the relocated Wound Healing Center. The patient care tower serves as the new face/main entrance of the hospital containing a modern lobby that provides a welcoming and comfortable place for patients and visitors.
Connecting to the current hospital on the south side of the building, the new facility gives patients and caregivers more exposure to natural light. The new patient rooms have private bathrooms and showers and are spacious and comfortable for families while visiting their loved one. Patients on the east side of the tower have views of the Ashtabula River.
The project also includes renovation of 16,500 square feet of the existing hospital, as well as relocation of the existing helipad and a new entry drive and drop off.
The first stage of the expansion and renovation project took place across the street from the hospital, with the demolition of several vacant buildings to make way for caregiver parking and overflow for patients and visitors.
